Association Meetings Trend: Where They’re Meeting and How to Find Them

June 16, 2015

Associations: You know many of them by name, but far more of them are new. This market covers everything from Toastmasters to the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, down to specific branches of associations such as the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association and the National Association of Black Journalists.

These groups continue to splinter across local, state, regional, and national levels, as well as into minority subsets. As they multiply, so does business opportunity.  Smart hotels are pursuing association groups to engage these new, popular divisions to increase bookings. But where do these groups want to meet? Association TRENDS breaks it down in its annual report.

Domestically, association groups are booking meetings in:

  1. Washington, DC
  2. Las Vegas
  3. Orlando
  4. Chicago

In 2016, San Diego and Las Vegas are also trending to be in-demand destinations. Internationally, groups are booking most frequently in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and London. Next year, bookings are forecasted to favor Singapore over London.

Knowing where these top business-driving groups are meeting, you can use Insight to help you target specific association meetings. By choosing the association market segment under the advanced search, then filtering by these cities, Insight will lead you right to these group meetings. With one search, the groups – and their booking patterns – are in your hands to offer a new destination to meet in, as well as all your hotel has to offer.
