Event activity remains level as holiday weekend nears
Group activity holds steady as hospitality begins to ready for the coming 3-day holiday. Meetings and events inched above last week’s volume with a +0.5% increase compared to the prior week.
The average number of attendees for the week was 83 people, while the average square footage used was 1,962 per event and people/square foot of meeting space was 24.
The corporate market segment represented 60.4% of overall business for the week. Education moved up to the second position for top 5 industry segments, behind National Associations, and followed by Finance/Banking, Healthcare, and Technology.
Markets with the highest week over week variance for number of meetings were New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Baltimore, and New York. Both New Orleans and New York led with an average of 100 attendees.
